.22 Rimfire bore diameter?

The original 22 Hornet (a wildcat) was made by rechambering 22 long rifles.

That's why reloading bullets for the Hornet only go up to 40 grains, and come in both 223 (for older guns) and 224 (for newer guns).
 
By "newer" and "older" guns, I meant "made back in the 20$ or 30s" versus current.

I've got three Hornets - a CZ, a Ruger and a Scout. I'm sure all three have .224 barrels. I use .224 bullets in my loads. Accuracy is fine.

I'm also sure that if you have your Scout rechambered, it'll shoot .224 factory ammo fine through that .223 barrel.
