Your question was geared towards owners, I am not an owner.

I doubt this gun will cycle low power, economy type 2¾" ammo. This ammo just does not develop enough gas to cycle the action. Heavy 2¾" ammo will likely cycle.

The weaker the ammo the more the shooter needs to keep his shoulder into the gun. The more the gun moves rearward the harder it is for the bolt to get to the rear to do it's job. Guns that work well for adults might not function when used by kids.

 

I can't speak to the 1301, but can say for a fact that a Benelli M2 with a 20" barrel cycles them just fine. Different guns and different operating systems, I know, but if you're in the market for a 1301 the M2 is right there in terms of capability.

Dovetail, you're right, I was trying to avoid the "I watched a video once" responses, although I appreciate all responses, hoping for some serious trigger time behind this baby, instead of conjecture... Due to the price range and intended add on's, this is one that I want to be 110% sure about.

Neo... I actually had the M4 (Really not big on the M2 personally) running next to the 1301 for awhile there and still wouldn't rule it out at this point, but the Berretta's B-link gas system is what started me down the path of hoping it would "Fire anything you threw at it". Honestly, I already own platforms that have me saddled to particular ammo and it's not that big of a deal, but we want what we want!

The gas system does a pretty good job of regulating low pressure and high pressure shells, holding onto low pressure for cycling while dumping off excess pressure to keep from beating the gun to death.

Much of the ammo sold this time of year is made to meet a price point rather than great function. "Low brass" is not really a great talking point as low brass is also suitable for higher pressure shells. Heavier payloads and higher DR EQ or velocity cartridges will probably cycle well in the 1301, you may need to find the line between will function and won't function loads. If my goal was to shoot lots and lots of dove loads then I would shop for either a non-semi or 2¾" autoloader.

The desire... is to shoot "Anything you throw at it". I'm not in the market to buy more "non-semi" etc.

Some say it will do that without fail, touting the advantage of the B-link system. Others had a differing experience, but we don't know the condition of those guns...

And I'm back to why I asked for your experience.

Yes sir, all my research has shown that those particular types of rounds have almost zero function issues in this firearm... I'm starting to feel real positive about the mouse fart loads as well... Lots of LE types calling them "low power training loads", etc... ANYWAY, I'm still on the fence, kinda tight with my money and I know that a guy could have as many as 10 usable shotguns in it's place.
