Indeed. That ivory weighs 110 Lbs...per tusk. Possible (very rarely) in the 50's and 60's...but true Unicorn status as we speak...unless you are a trust fund kid...or own a hedge fund.

PS...the Sheep on display are absolutely breathtaking.

 

To me the Giraffe mount looks out of place. Didn't think people hunted them. I wonder what makes one a trophy over another? A longer neck? Or those 2 horns on top of their head?

 

Joe, I think being stuffed and mounted on a wall makes it into a trophy.

Possibly selling them off as it's possible some of the mounts could be degrading, decaying etc.

Taxidermy doesn't necessarily last forever.

 

The owners wish is for the entire collection to be purchased...hopefully by a museum...cleaned, and repaired as necessary, and put on public display.
