I got burgled few years ago. Cleaned me out of reloading stuff. I have been, over the last 4 years or so, replacing 45 years worth of stuff that I bought.
Today I was going to load some 380 for the first time in,probably 7 years. I look in the Lyman 48. 380 ball with a 95 grain bullet has an overall length of 0.900.
Now my stuff that I used to have was set up. I never had to figure it out I just go in there and screw it into the press and go to town. But I got to set this up.
And I set the first bullet to 900 oal. That's off the side. The mouth of the case is into the ogive.
What the ?
Get out my calipers and check. Yeah. 900.
Go get a box that I loaded years ago and check the overall length of those. 0.975.
Just a little difference.
Max overall length for that cartridge is 0.984, and it wants me to set the bullet to 0.900???
And that, boys and girls, is why you have more than one loading manual. Because every once in a while the people that write it screw up.
0.900. Geeze Louise.
