Here is a picture of a gun that I received from my uncle's estate. It has CHAMPION on the top of the barrel and under that it says PATD APR 2'01, APR 15'02 PATS. PENDING
On the side it says IVER JOHNSON'S ARMS & CYCLE WORKS FITCHBURG, MASS. U.S.A.

I'm trying to find out some basic info for this gun; the manufacture date, estimated worth, if this is a black powder or modern ammo capable.

Forgot to add... SN on the bottom of the barrel is 855266.

I know this is an old post here, but I am looking for my Iver Johnson 12 guage shotgun serial number and do not see it. You say it is under the rifle? Are you seeing it under the front furniture (meaning you had to remove the front hand furniture to find the serial number? Mine has no serial number, no guage, and no model number on it.
Thanks for helping me.

Welcome to TFF.

There are no production records for IJ shotguns but those with all-numeric serial numbers are believed to date before 1920.

If it locks up solidly it should be OK with low-brass field loads.

They are very common and value probably $50-$75 range.

Laura, as John said, you really need to start your own thread and please add all the pictures that it asks for in this "sticky" post:
This thread started six years ago so I am closing it. Please start that new thread.
