I have moved this over to the proper forum - "Ask the Pros & What's it Worth". To get any useful information you need to click on and read the following two sticky posts, that you must have missed. One tells you where to find the "real" serial number on US Revolvers and the second one tells you what is needed to get the information you seek:
Many Iver Johnson and U.S. Revolver Co. revolvers have a visible serial number on the trigger guard, under top strap, or bottom of butt. However except for earliest guns, the "real" serial number is hidden on the grip strap under left grip panel (or one piece grip), with a letter prefix to...
Please describe the item in as much detail as possible. Detail does not mean "in good shape" ,describe how the wood is, how much blueing (% of original finish left) there is etc., and anything else you see that may be helpful. Tell us all marking, words, and letters anywhere on the gun...
Serial number under the pearl grips match all other numbers. 29144 No letter prefix at all. Silver Finish (Nickel possibly) Good Condition. The Cylinder is pitted and not as good condition as the gun itself. Hammerless, Pearl Grips, (1) side grip is cracked at the base near the holding pin. All other functions appear to work. I believe it's a .32 cal.
How is anyone going to give you a value on something that cannot be seen? It's like me going over to a classic car forum and posting "I've got a 1965 Mustang fastback, it's dark blue, what's it's worth?
MRBMTB,
With the information given all I can tell you is the revolver was built in early 1913, that it was designed for black powder ammunition, and the finish would be nickel plating.
gdmoody isn't trying to be a jerk or anything but we really do need some pictures of the revolver to verify caliber and give an estimate on value. Without pictures all I can say is Blue Book of Gun Values range from about $55 to $225 depending on condition.
