Someone asked a question about one. I had no idea. I had never heard of one. So I started doing a search.

Apparently moss refers to the color - it's grayish green cerakote. The color of Spanish moss? Maybe?

But I can't find anything that explains what NIL means.

So if someone could explain that to me I would certainly appreciate it.

“NO INTERNAL LOCK”?

Which really is not correct because unless they have done aware with the hammer block and one or two others, there is still a lock.

Another victim of initialism. Sad.

Why Not Just Type What You Mean

NEIPTATIUT

Not Everyone Is Privy To All The Initialism Used Today

Makes perfect sense to me. As much sense as GSR or NIL.

It's been so long ago, but wasn't there a lot of that in the military?

Another version of this is using contractions instead of writing all the words. I find myself doing that all the time. Don't, can't, isn't; even etc which I rarely use.

You guys need to enter a quiz show. I can't believe some of the things they know.
