I totally agree! I have read in other forums that there are some problems with the safety on this pistol but a little "fine tuning" will alleviate this...happy shooting !!!:D
I have had no problems with mine and it does not need any tuning. If this is an add on they did a great job. They had special left hand grips made with clearence for the safety, drilled a little indentation for the red warning dot, filed a perfect notch in the slide and then reblued to cover the damage from drilling and filing??? I am talking about the Yugo M57 with the safety above the left grip 1911 style.
happy shooting to you also, I am very pleased with mine. By the way I am half collector but mostly into shooting fine milsup guns. All my guns look good hanging on the wall but each one is a good shooter.

M57 versus Walther P1. Just got a Walther P1 from JG. Nice gun, I have heard so much about these fine guns that I just had to have one. It shoots well with the 5"barrel so I kinda expected it to out perform my Tok which cost half the price.
Wrong!! At around 28' I was getting 3" groups with an occasional wild shot that may be 4 to 5" with the walther using Geco 124 gr ammo. With my Tok using the 84 gr Privi I am getting 3/4" goups with no wild shots!! :) While the Walther is a fine gun there is no way I would swap my Tok for the Walther P1.
After a really rough start with the M57 it has turned out to be one of my best pistols in every way. I know the Walther is a DA and has some nice features but the Tok just seems more solid and indestructable.

I agree , Wayne.
The M57's are very accurate. At least thats been my result. I've had to do some tuning and lightening of the trigger group, but its easy to work on, being modular like that. Factory pull has been atrocious. I like them so much, I bought two. I tuned one til it was light and smooth. No. 1 Granson "borrowed" it. Always had some excuse when I requested the return. His B-day rolled around(I think I got played) and I wound up making him a present of it! Oh well. Now I gotta tune #2.

What did you do to the trigger? I would like to improve on the trigger but do not know how to go about it. Do you just polish some of the surfaces or something else. I have not looked at it closely.

I just ordered an M57 from classic arms. I havent seen one from them before but from what I hear they have quality milsurp, and I went with the handpick option. any1 here have experience with these??

Also is there a website with some good basic info about the tokarev. For those of you familiar with the makarov, Im talking about a site like makarov dot com where everything from basic details of the gun to disassembly and modifications are discussed. Im having a hard time finding alot of info on these toks in one central location, i just keep finding websites giving out the history of the gun.

Welcome to TFF, there isn't one big website with everything Tok unfortunately. ( or at least I've never found one yet ) What info are you looking for specifically? A very decent price from Classic too. YouTube has some good cleaning/takedown videos.

Have you found a good supply of ammo for it yet? It's been pretty spotty lately in finding much.

Actually for ammo the guy at classic told me they had just gotten ammo in, forgot to ask the damn price though. unforntunately ive maxed out my budget for a few weeks, just bought a makarov also 2 days ago so I couldnt pick some up. What are the best places to get ammo if classic runs out before I can get some, Ive heard a lot about cheap ammo and use jg for my maks and some other stuff but theyre talking 175 for 500 rounds and ive heard about $50-$75 for 1000 rds of milsurp ammo.

As far as as questions mainly about serial numbers and date codes, also how to get the cosmoline off of these guys, i know with the maks you can boil them before a mineral oil bath, not sure if the toks like this ( i dont see why not, but Id rather ask first). Once I get my tok and start messing around with it im sure ill have more questions,m should have it at the beginning of next week.

Ammo has been out of stock for awhile, but here in the past week, I've seen a little bit start showing up. Best place is anywhere you can find it when it's scarce. I like J&G also, good folks. Last time I bought some, I paid $90 for 860 rounds.

Just got back from the Range ,,first time shooting my Yugo M-57 ,,a lot of people complain about the heavy recoil,,I didn,t think it was all that bad,,put about 80 rds thru it without a hitch,,It shoots high and left but I,m positive it,s me didn,t get a chance to switch out the barrel and go 9MM but theres always next week, best 200.00 semi auto on the market

Hi FF, My first time shootin' my M57 was disapointing but it was just me. It always takes me a while to get a new gun right in my hands. The first time I shot it I was really disappointed, I could not hit anything but now it is one of my most accurate pistols. I had some ammo problems and got that sorted out and now I would not trade it for anything. Hang in there and it will be one of your best friends.

I also did not find the recoil to be that offensive as compared to my other hand guns. Actually my CZ 82 seems to cause me more pain but not bad and I do like that gun also.

Hi Permafrost and others, such as Polish shooter. I ordered some ammo from Reeds Ammo 6 weeks ago and have not heard a word or Email. Is this normal? I know they said it might be a while. Also thanks to Permafrost directing me to Marchal grips I ordered a set of wrap around walnut, oil finished grips with lanyard and safety cut out and can't wait to get them. My Tok is one of the " prettyiest" pistols and think they will dress it up nicely and help with the feel. But it takes a long time as they warned me it could be 6 to 8 weeks before they ship.
The more I shoot it the more accurate it gets! wonder why?
Anyway still LUV this gun and think I got a special one:). What was that I read and I quote: " this is my gun. There are many more like it but this one is mine"
Have fun guys
