Ordered a puck pressing die or rather a cannabis die . Tried making my first puck but put to much in and was hard to push out and it came out finally but in 2 halves . Bit like separating a Oreo cookie . Any pointers or making pucks ?

When you make black powder you make it wet and while wet you compress it into a puck to dry. Once dry you grind it into powder. Sooner, I'll send you a link to gentleman who makes some high quality black powder. I'll send it in a PM because some strong language used.

I can't add more than two and I'm at my limit. I spelled Mister Ed's user name wrong and lo and behold there is an inactive member with that name. Perhaps @soonerfan66 or someone else in that PM can add you. If not send me a PM and I'll send you a link to the video.

Learned a lot watching this video . Going to need to change somethings I do making BP . Think with my first puck attempt I had it to wet and need to pick up some distilled water instead of using my well water . Something else I didn't find out is when pressing the puck using a normal bench vise is it possible to get enough pressure or is a hydraulic press needed . Seen a video last night of someone using their truck . They jacked the truck up enough then lowered it on the puck die using the trucks weight to compress it .

Hawg, I was watching a test firing video he put out testing powder using toilet paper for the carbon source, he was getting 1850 fps from a Kibler flintlock. It was a .45 cal loaded with a .440 rb .020 patch and a 50 grain charge. Sooner, when you get your powder puck making figured out we expect a range report.

Been using my t post drive made from piece pipe a square tubing and setting bottle jack inside handles works but not real stable so will be making better frame for it to compress the die. Had used some wood block as shim but either die or bottle jack dig into wood and get off center and then slip out .

I will point the way to Everything Black Powder, I have made powder by boiling (no puck). I have been following that channel on the you tube, he seems to really have his finger on the pulse so to speak, He has done it all in the way of black powder, Boil, Milling and Pucking. He even makes his own charcoals has used tons of different sources.
