Can I grind down 2F to prime a flintlock?

I've been shooting percussion muzzleloaders for decades but have just purchased my first flintlock (Lyman GPR). I can locate Goex 2F, but not the 4F I need to prime the thing. Can I take a pinch or two of 2F and (carefully) grind it into a powder for priming?

Yes but I would only do it if I could not find any 4F. One of the forum memebers had a good idea, take some 2 F and put it in a film cannister. Drop in a couple of 50 cal balls and shake it some. The balls will grind the powder down to a finr powder. you can carry it in your pocket and just the carrying of it will eventually grind down the powder to a finer grade.

try this

take some 2F and put in plastic container like film canister with some lead shot as stated and then add some pure alcohol and some extra charcoal ( 1/12th -1/20th the ammount of powder) and tumble ( dont shake )

leave for a hour to tumble

then empty and add a tad more alcohol and roll into a ball

then get a fine as possible brass seive and rub against the seive the powder that results is course, but, when dry rub between two sheets of paper and this is ultra fine

the alchohol allows the grains to seperate but keep thier chemical composition in fact add's a touch of "woof" ( heat) so it ignites easier and ingnites the main charge better

it will make a tad more smoke ( white) than usual touch hole powder but you get a far better spark

cheers
