I have been considering that I need to figure out how to drop my American Rifleman magazines. It is the only one that I get regularly, and it may lay on the coffee table for weeks before I pick it up. There doesn't seem to be much in them that interests me, I think the only thing I read is The Armed Citizen. Every couple of months or so they have something interesting that I will read.
George you can call them and have the magazine canceled.

The only mags I get are my American hunter from the NRA and Handloader, which my dad gets and gives to me when he is done with it. I love to read books, since I don't watch my tv. I love to read about history and the presidents. I also like a good murder mystery or old western. Oak

I used to belong to 3 book clubs. I don't know if any exist today. One was The History Book Club from whom I received a leather bookmark with the Thomas Jefferson quote, "I cannot live without books.", that would describe me.

I haven't subscribed to a strictly firearms magazine in probably 25 years. After the 35th magazine cover in a row that pictured a double stack wonder nine I figured like Reagan said about the democraps, 'I didn't leave them, they left me'!! I still get the American Rifleman because of my Benefactor membership in the NRA but it's about worthless too.
Vic, I get American Hunter from my NRA life membership, I quit all other paper magazines except one years ago. I still get Handloader.....for how long I don't know. Printed magazines are dropping like flies.

I took The American Hunter for years then changed back to the Rifleman. I hardly hunt anymore so I don't see much reason to change back. Evidently getting old and changing technology go hand in hand. Can't say I care much for either....well, gettin' old is ok if it just didn't hurt so much.

I'm too old school for a gun magazine to have anything that interests me. I don't care for the AR/AK platforms. I certainly don't want to read about them. I like wood and steel. I don't like rails. I'm not going to hang a light, laser or toaster oven off of a rifle, so a rifle with a rail is 100% a deal breaker. Handguns with a rail are 98% of the time a deal breaker. I say 98% because I owned one with a rail for a short time. I guess I don't care much for anything designed post 1970 and I don't want to read about them. Magazines with articles on tactics and gear are good for starting fires.

Been ruminating over it the past few rainy days... Thought about maybe trying a couple different mags but then I found a recent request from Guns for me to renew! Now, I'm not shtoopid enuff to think management didn't know they were quitting soon. So either they told nobody oorrrr they kept the money begging mochine active to steal a few more bucks. Considering that the guys who run these mags are pretty much the same can I trust another group to give what I pay for? Doubtful. Gonna sit & enjoy the lack of advertising awhile. No more "stories" about the same ol' thang guns. At least until they invent phasers.

I cleaned a stash of old magazines I had purchased and did not get to them for a few years. I figured I would read them at my leisure. Then I was disappointed that 85% of the magazines were nothing but ads, and if they offered tactical tips it was always a Green Beret or Navy seal. Called BS because I trained with both and there was nothing I could learn from the magazines and definitely tactics described is something they would never use. Also, just because they were Green Beret or Navy Seal does not mean that they new more, and not trying to discredit them, but I know I could learn a few things from Jerry Miculek, or Mike Venturino for example. I stopped the American rifleman because I quit the NRA was not happy with them and instead joined the TSRA-Texas State Rifle Association. Not really a fan of AR/AK platforms and not a fan of the 6.5 gaymore as I am of the 6.5 Swiss. I'm old school and many of the articles are not true assessment of firearms because if they were the author would not have a job anymore because they would lose their sponsorship.

They stopped publishing "The Double Gun and Single Shot Journal" maybe 2 years ago. I did take that for 20 years, and have all 80 issues, but it was hardly a magazine. It was a lot more like a high quality paperback book and it only came out quarterly. They catered more to double guns but there was always a few well written, well photographed articles on double rifles, high end single shot rifles and equally high end original muzzleloaders That one I miss.

The only magazine I get anymore is "Shooting Illustrated". Only because I'm a NRA Life Member, and even it's getting full of adverts. But, what can you do...??

Like you, I'm a Lifetime Member, so I get American Rifleman for free. Lots of ads. But I do find some interesting articles from time tot time.

I no longer subscribe to any magazines . I do pick up firearms news and handloader on occasion . I have Libby on my phone . Free app to read e books from my local libraries. Access to 30 or 40 hunting shooting mags including G&A etc

I don't consider myself as "subscribing" to magazines either. Like I said, I get Americ Rifleman for free since I'm a Life Member.

I am also a Life Member of the B.P.O.E. and get their magazine for free. Well, not for free. I think about $4.00 per year. So while it's technically a subscription, it's pretty cheap and it taken out of the dues that I'm paying anyway.

I also belong to the Family Motor Coach Association. I get a magazine with that, too. But again, it's part of my dues.

Life Member of the KCBS. They used to have a monthly that came out, called the Bull Sheet. But they quit sending that out a couple of years ago.
