I was over at our local wally mart a few minutes ago. While there, I did my usual trip down to the sporting goods department. NO ammo of any kind but they had one of the green stocked Savage rifles, the cost was $423. I would have bought it if I had not spent $3200 in the past few days for a new furnace. If they still have one of them when I do get the money, I will probably end up with a new .22 rifle.
You need to prioritize your purchases. Furnaces will always be available. The Savage, maybe not. LOL

I thought the FV-SR and the At-One wally world special was the same gun except the green stock. As I was cleaning both of them today, I realized that the barrel on the green wienie is about four inches longer that the FV-SR. That should make it shoot better, at least my feeble mind thinks that.

Per what I have read 16 inches is the optimal size for a 22 rifle barrel.

I should have added to my comment for 50 or 100-yard precision shooting 16 inches is the optimal size for a 22 rifle barrel. At least that's what the guys at my club tell me.

With absolutely nothing going on, after finishing the Midsomer Murders dvd set#22, that arrived Thursday, at 8 pm On New Years’ Eve, I decided to head to the range. As usual not a sole, anywhere at the range, time get one last shoot in 2021. This was a single rifle day, this was the first outing for the third Savage BVNSXP-SR, one of the Wal-Mart Specials.

I shot about 250 rounds of the Federal bulk range pack (blue box)

As it was the first outing, the bolt was rather stiff, it loosened up some, by the end of the night. I went through the sighting in procedure, the shot some targets. Other than the stiff bolt, I had zero issues. From what I can see so far, the rifle shoots great, it is easily equal to the other two, I now own 7 of the Savage Mk II series rifles, only one of them is disappointing, the rest are very good. It’s also strange that the Boyd At-One stock on the Savage, except for the color and the action cut out, is identical to the At-One that was on my CZ 457s, on the CZ, it did not feel right, but on the Savage, it just seems to work.

The Federal bulk ammo for me worked perfectly.

Lots of targets, lots of holes in paper, again one big smile, a great time at the range. Cleaned up, made the 6 mile trip home, getting to the house at about 11:45 pm.

Saw a Savage 22 with a green stock at Wal-mart today. Didn't really pay much attention I was trying to get the salesperson to unlock the 22 mag ammo but it 3 hundred and.......Should I think of an excuse to go back

Yeah looked at it today. Seemed like a well built rifle. I have been looking for a bolt action .22 with a threaded barrel for training/plinking/kid intro to shooting. The Weaver was a basic duplex reticle so that will have to go. At 453 seems the price has gone up since this forum post started but still seems like a good deal.

That green weenie Savage may not be the best gun for kid intros, that sucker is the heaviest rifle that I have!!

Ral, if you saw one for 300, you better think of an excuse quick and get back over there.
