How many different calibers/cartridges do you keep?

I've heard lots of people talk about "consolidating" down to just a few different cartridges (most likely for logistical reasons), and then I've heard lots of people talk about how they reload for over twenty different cartridges.

So I want to know, what's the "normal" here at TFF? Do you use 3 or more different shotgun cartridges? How many different rifles? Handguns? Do we have anyone who uses just one for everything?

I know that here in the Reloading forum, we're likely skewed a little toward the higher end, but I'm still interested in seeing just where this goes.

A bunch!

My "collection" of guns is guns I like but in calibers that don't repeat. That is I have few guns of the same caliber. I have guns from 17HM2 to 45-70 with just about all the major players in the middle. That was my goal from the beginning... Cover the spectrum of cartridges. I reload for over 30 different cartridges. I also have a couple I don't reload for like 25ACP, 7.62x39, 7.5mm Swiss.

RIFLE: 45-70, 30.06, 308, 8mm, 7.62X54, 7mm08, 30-30, 223, 204, 22Mag, 22LR, 17HMR, 17Mach2

HANDGUN: 45Colt, 44mag, 45ACP, 40S&W, 357, 38, 9mm, 380, 32, 25acp, 7.62X25, 5.7X28

SHOTGUN: 12 gauge and .410 bore

I should have voted 16+, I voted before I started really thinking about them. I do not reload all of them of course, but you didn't ask what I reloaded!

I voted in the 4-7 category, as 6 is my number. I have enough .45 and 12 gauge ammo to build a perimeter of dead zombies around the house. I have enough 9mm and .38 so the wife can keep firing while I'm reloading. Enough .30-06 because I like the reach. And enough .22 to arm a small third world country.

But seriously - I've got a lot more ammo than I can carry, and I keep buying it whenever I see a good deal. Reason being, I got caught short in 2009 and all those empty shelves scared me.

Always good to have the right gun for any occasion ...

I screwed up and didnt even think about my long guns or the shotguns so only voted in the 4 7 range which is what I have in the way of pistaos that I reload. start adding the others in there and the total comes up a bit higher.

22 380 9mil 38spl 357 40 44mag 45acp

22 270 3030 3006 7mil mauser 8mil mauser 7.62x54 223 303 british

12ga 26ga 20ga 410ga still looking to get a nice 28ga just to round them out a bit.

I only reload for my pistols not the long guns.

22 calibers and gauges but I don't own a .380 pistol so I have one more caliber of ammunition than I do own in calibers and gauges of guns. When, not if but when I get one I will already be good to go for ammo. :D

Should I count 22 magnum? I've got three pistols with spare magnum cylinders and, I think, about a box and a half of ammo, but it costs too much to shoot, so I don't really. But:
22 Short
22 LR
22 Hornet
223
25 ACP
7x57
7.62x25
30 Carbine
7.62x39
30/30
308
30/40
30/06
8x57
32 S&W
32 S&W Long
32 H&R
32/20
32 ACP
9x17
9x18
9x19
38 S&W
38 Spl
357
9.3x57
375 H&H
38/55
38/40
40 S&W
41 RF
41 Magnum
44 Russian
44 Special
44 Magnum
45 Auto Rim
45 ACP
45 Colt
454 Casull
45/70
410
16 Gauge
12 Gauge

Wow. I been tellin' folks, for years, I load 35 calibers, and I count 42. Discounting the 3 rimfires, and that leaves 39. Where'd them other four come from?

Should I add the 36, 44, 45 and 50 caliber cap-n-ball guns?

edit: Was just looking at my inventory, and discovered I'd forgotten the 454. Makes 43 calibers, and 40 I reload.

Rifle - 223, 308, 22LR
Handgun - 357, 380, 45ACP
Shotgun - 12

I have begun my schooling for loading rifle 223 cartridges now. Soon to be loading 45ACP handgun and will drop back and load 308. I have 12 and 20 ga. progressive presses - those I will do some time later.

right now im at 5 calibers. i have a desire to have a bunch more though. i've always liked the idea of having a handgun in every caliber.... but i also like certain handguns in various calibers and have no problem with duplicate calibers. i have 2 22 handguns now... and desire another.

i'd like both a ruger p95 and a glock 17. both 9mm. i like both guns. i want a marlin or winchester lever gun in 45/70. dont have a brand preference, but want the caliber. so it's fair to say i love both gun and caliber.

i think that reloading will play a large roll in what calibers a person buys or avoids. i know i would not buy a 41 magnum or a 10mm, or even a 44 mag if i didnt reload.

SHOTGUN - 12 ga, .410 - don't reload for .410
RIFLE - .22LR, .223, .243, .270, 6.5x55, .30-30, .30-06, .303, .30 cARBINE - don't reload the rimfire

PISTOL - .22 LR, .22 Mag, 9mm, .38 and .357, .40 SW, .45 acp - don't reload the rimfire

BLACK POWDER - .36, .44, .45, .50

20 calibers, 2 rimfires and a .410 not reloaded. I guess I reload 17 calibers currently - of course I need to add a .44 Mangle'um and a .45 LC to the pistol line so that will up it again.

Black Power - .36

I voted in the 8-15 category. Im at 15 including my shotguns
I voted in the same catagory, but after thinking about it some more I should have voted in the 16+ catagory. I have so many that sometimes I have to get up and go count them to know just how many I have! My wife might be right when she says that I have to many guns. I keep telling her that there is no such thing as to many guns! I am now wondering if I am trying to convience her, or myself????:D
